Course Description:
This foundational online course offers a comprehensive introduction to bereavement counselling for professionals working in emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual care. Whether you are a social worker, counsellor, psychologist, pastoral caregiver, or a student in a helping profession, this course will deepen your understanding of grief and provide you with practical tools to begin supporting individuals through loss.
Grounded in contemporary grief theory and ethical practice, the course explores the emotional, cognitive, behavioural, and spiritual responses to bereavement. You’ll learn how to establish a therapeutic presence, assess grief reactions, and apply basic counselling techniques within the context of loss. The course also addresses cultural sensitivity, common myths about grief, and the importance of boundaries and self-care in bereavement work.
